The children at Parkland want safety now!
They played the pawns for the anti-gun lobby. What did they get, more safety? Maybe, but more safety procedures for certain.
Nope, nada, not at all. They got the the adult treatment. Clear backpacks like the packs people that work in retail world use so they can't hide stuff, going in or coming out. Badges as well so everyone knows who belongs there.
It never occurred to them that they would surrender privacy for presumed safety. Nor did they realize with badges they can be watched more closely and identified more easily, if they violate any rules.
Just think, uniforms would make them easier to differentiate from those that don't belong. Maybe even define the grade they are in. People that have had conversations with staff over their behaviour might even get a visible marker to insure they are held in check. Makes the cameras work better too.
There is a strange thing about giving up one thing without realizing the trade can be worse.
After all their overlords are beneficent and only wish them to be safe. We are led to believe.
If I didn't know better, this could be the start of the dystopian story. Only just a little of it is fiction right now.
